Protect Your Phone - Crime PreventionAlways use both your phone's PIN number and security lock code. Security lock code is an extra PIN number when once activated will prevent another SIM card working in your phone. Use your mobile phone's instruction manual for information about changing the default security lock code. Make sure you keep a record of your mobile phone's IMEI. IMEI is a serial number in 15 digit number format and can be accessed by keying in *#06# in most phones or by looking behind the battery of your phone. Pass on your IMEI number to the police if your phone is stolen. Register your phone with the operator, the operator should be able to bar the SIM card in the phone if you report your phone stolen. Consider security marking on the battery and exterior of your phone with postcode and house number. UV ink are available at most DIY stores or from your local police station. If your phone has an interface data port with a compatible device such as your PC, consider downloading all your vital information from the phone such as all callers' contact information regularly. Is your phone insured? Most household policies do not cover mobile phones so consider contacting your dealer for information on insuring your phone.
